Programs - Employee Assistance

In the days following September 11th it became obvious that the definition of "emergency responder" also extended to those who kept the City's infrastructure working during the attacks — including employees in payroll, accounting, water, sewer, transportation and sanitation. Life Matters designed the New York City Peer Outreach & Readiness Training (NYC/PORT) as a pilot program to train and support City agency Peers. Trusted Peers conduct informal outreach, encourage referrals, maximize the provision of currently available mental health services, and help keep workers healthy and productive in critical jobs.
